Mark A. Gallashaw, Sr.

Mark-A.-GallashawJoined Kappa Alpha Psi, Incorporated and the Southwestern Province in Spring 2005, Natchez, Mississippi. Selected and served as Chapter Keeper of Records two months after intake. Currently serves as Chapter Polemarch and Southwestern Province Keeper of Records. Further serves as the Southwestern Province Audio-Video and Technology subject matter expert. Born to Thomas and Rosa Lee Dickerson on August 5, 1956, the 7th of 8 children. Finished public school and worked for the State of Pennsylvania. Enlisted in the United States Army on January 15, 1976 and successfully completed 22 years of active military service. Married his wife of 33 plus years on May 20, 1979 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. They have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Attended college at Northwestern State University of Louisiana College of Business obtaining an Associate’s Degree in General Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems.

Currently works for Raytheon Technical Service Company, LLC at Fort Polk, Louisiana as a Computer System Administrator and Audio-Video Presentation and Recording Systems Design and Development Engineer. Also, serves as the Manager Audio-Visual for the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk

Personal Initiatives and Achievements

  • Kappa Bikes for Kids – Raised funds, purchased and donated over 900 new bicycles to underprivileged kids in Beauregard, Calcasieu and Vernon Parishes.
  • Built a solid oak display showing the enshrinement of Founder John Milton Lee and presented it to the Kappa Alpha Psi National Headquarters at the 2011 Founders Day Celebration, Philadelphia, PA.
  • He single handedly designed and published his chapter’s website.
  • He automated his chapter’s recertification packet.
  • Provides Audio-Video Equipment and Support for All Annual Province Meetings and C Roger Wilson Leadership Conferences saving the Province over $30,000 over a 4 year period.
  • Designs and prints the name badges for all Province Events and provides the computers and printers for registration at those events.
  • Built his Chapter a 44” high x 40” wide Kappa Coat of Arms for use at official functions and events.
  • Lake Charles Alumni Chapter Man of the Year award.
  • Awarded the United States Army Meritorious Service Medal for 22 years of Honorable Military Service.
  • Was selected and awarded numerous Commendations for Soldier and Non-commissioned Officer of the Year.
